Hi Friends!

Happy Wednesday! I hope you’re all having an awesome week so far. Here in Austin, we’ve been sunny and 75.. exactly how I like my February! When the temps are nice and warm, I love to wake up to a cold, refreshing breakfast. Lately, I’ve been really into nutrient packed smoothies. They’re a great way to get tons of amazing nutrients into one glass to start your day on the right foot. My instagram feed is filled with pictures of glorious blends that give me endless ideas of what to make and lately, I’ve really enjoyed experimenting. So, today I thought I would show you some of my favorite add-in’s I’ve been using. 

1.) Maca Powder-

Maca powder is something I’ve been using non-stop lately. The benefits of this stuff are amazing… it’s rich in vitamin B, C, and E, it’s a natural mood-enhancer/balancer, can increase energy, and promotes youthful skin. Of course, I love adding a scoop of it to my morning smoothie but, it’s also a great add-in to your cup of coffee. When I make my favorite bulletproof coffees, I add in a scoop, blend in my nutribullet and it creates the creamiest cup of jo imaginable!

2.) Homemade Almond Milk-

This is a game changer. I’m all about real ingredients. Knowing what goes in my food and actually making them from scratch is something I’ve been putting extra focus on lately. I had recently heard of many people making their own almond milk. It’s something I use daily so I gave it a try and let me tell you… no store bought brand can compare to the fresh flavor of this milk! Adding it to my smoothies makes them thick and adds an extra kick of healthy fats.

3.) Raw Almond Butter-

Almond butter has been all the rave lately. I had tried it but never really got into it until I found the holy grail. One day, as I was grazing the aisle’s of Trader Joe’s, my eye landed on their Raw Almond Butter. I was instantly drawn in. I checked the ingredient list and was amazed. Raw Almonds. And that’s it! I was thrilled to see the simplicity so I picked it up, gave it a try and haven’t looked back since. Packed with protein and healthy fats, this is an ideal addition to any smoothie.

  1. I love smoothies but you don’t want to know what I put in mine…..however, I’m gonna try some of your suggestions, especially the almond milk.😊
