Today, I’m excited to share with you one of my go-to meals that is equally nourishing and satisfying! I was first introduced to Macro Bowls when I started to dive deeper into the Instagram/ food blogging scene and I was instantly obsessed. To put it simply, a Macro Bowl is a nutrient dense dish that includes all the basic Macronutrients… Protein, Carbohydrates and Healthy Fats. They’re simple to make and 100% customizable, which makes them perfect any day of the week. Below, I’ve put together a simple guide to building a Macro Bowl. Feel free to add any extras to make your bowl just how you like it!
1.) Leafy Green Base-
Layer the bottom of your bowl with hearty, nourishing greens such as spinach, kale, romaine, arugula, Swiss chard, mixed green, etc.
Next, add in your preferred protein. Fish, chicken, tempeh, tofu, hemp seeds, farm fresh eggs, lentils, etc.
Feel free to mix and match.. here are some of my favorites- Quinoa, sweet potato, brown rice, wild rice, beans, corn, etc.
4.) Healthy Fats-
Load your bowl up with these good-for-you fats. Avocado, olive oil, hemp seeds, nuts, seeds, etc.
Top your bowl with simple, clean dressings. Olive oil/ vinegar combo, citrus juice, any simple dressing of your choice.
Customize your bowl with these- Sauerkraut (great probiotic), seasonings, nutritional yeast (full of various vitamins), hummus, micro greens, etc.
