Today, I’m so excited to announce the start of a new series here on The Mind Body Glow! As we’re entering into the Fall season, I’ve started to reflect on what I want to add to the blog. I’m hoping to slowly start having more free time to devote to the blog later this month and on into the fall/ winter and I can’t wait to see how we can grow together!
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a interest in hearing how different people start their days. I find such value in a calm, grounding morning routine. So many of us wake up snoozing the alarm, grab a quick bite to eat and rush out the door trying not to spill our coffee down the outfit we threw on. To me, morning is the most sacred time of day, so starting on a peaceful note is vital. I can confidently say a good morning routine transforms my whole day.
Since everyone prefers to start their day differently, I decided to reach out to a couple of my favorite bloggers to hear what makes their routine unique, what helps them start their day on the healthiest, happiest note. I hope by sharing different morning routines with you, you can draw some inspiration to create your own, no matter what that may look like to you. So, todays morning routine is from one of my favorite health and wellness bloggers.
Allie Mason and her blog The Health Mason have always been high on my list. From her relaxed, realistic approach to wellness and delicious recipes, I really feel like I connect with her message. Her bright personality is a breath of fresh air! Something I’ve off and on struggled with is creating a positive relationship between myself and exercise. I often compare my workouts to others, which is never, ever good, considering each body is different. After following Allie, I instantly started to pick up on how she really listens to her body with exercise… she doesn’t feel the need to run 6 miles or do a HIIT workout like the world tells us we should. I’ve slowly but surely began to accept and LOVE the fact that in this season of my life, my body is craving low intensity, lots of yoga and meditation… and that’s exactly what my body needs. It’s amazing to finally accept that and have encouraging people like Allie to help.
So without further ado, Allies AM routine!
1.) What time is your alarm set?
-“I don’t always set an alarm, but typically find myself waking up around 7:15-7:30am during the week (9am on the weekends).”
2.) Any rituals to start your day?
-“I love lounging in bed, so I usually relax in bed until 7:45-8:00am before actually starting my day. And of course, coffee is a big part of my ritual.”
3.) Coffee, tea, matcha…?
-“COFFEE! Every morning. Matcha if I feel like I need an extra boost. I’m a big fan of an iced matcha latte, loaded with all the adaptogens, coconut butter, collagen and delicious almond milk.”
4.) What’s your favorite breakfast at the moment?
-“In the summer/warmer months, I drink a smoothie every morning. Since it is getting a little cooler, I’ve been enjoying oatmeal with peanut butter, berries, and chia seeds.”
5.) Morning or afternoon workout? If morning, what is your typical routine?
-“Afternoon. I am definitely not a morning person, so find it’s best for me to workout in the afternoon. I am a BIG fan of low-impact workouts like yoga or brisk walks. I try to get in my 10,000 steps everyday.”
6.) Beauty routine?
-“Since I am no longer working a desk job, makeup is not part of my daily routine. I am bare-faced more often than not, but if I feel like looking nicer during the weekday, I’ll throw on a little mascara (Juice Beauty) and fill in my brows. That’s it. I think a diet full of greens helps keep my skin fresh. However, I try to set aside 1-2 days a week for zero makeup, just to give my skin a break”
7.) Any other must-do parts of your morning…
-“Take time for yourself. Even if it is 5 minutes. I have a “meditation corner” which I enjoy my coffee in every single morning. It’s part of my routine that is precious to me. I also take this time to answer my emails, get started on blog posts, edit photos, etc.”
